Welcome home

Welcome to
IIGS.

Established in 1976 in the historic town of Iwoye Ijesa, Osun State, Nigeria.

Iwoye Ijesa Grammar School has played an important role in shaping the lives of generations of students who have gone on to contribute to society in various professions and communities, both locally and internationally.

At IIGS, education goes beyond the classroom. We believe in developing young minds, nurturing leadership qualities, promoting discipline, and preparing students to become responsible citizens and future leaders.

As we celebrate our 50th anniversary in 2026, we proudly reflect on the journey that brought us here while renewing our commitment to educational excellence and the development of future generations.

Our school. Our heritage. Our pride.

About us · our history

A legacy worth
returning to.

Iwoye Ijesa Grammar School was established in 1976 to provide secondary education to young people in Iwoye Ijesa and surrounding communities.

Over the years, the school has grown into an important educational institution, contributing to the intellectual, social, and moral development of its students.

From its early years to the present day, IIGS has benefited from the dedication of principals, teachers, community leaders, parents, and alumni who have supported its mission. Generations of students have passed through its classrooms, carrying forward the lessons of discipline, perseverance, academic achievement, and community responsibility.

Today, our alumni are found across Nigeria and around the world, contributing to fields such as education, medicine, engineering, business, public service, technology, finance, and other professions.

The 50th anniversary provides a unique opportunity to celebrate this heritage, recognise those who have contributed to the institution, and build a stronger foundation for future generations.

The school song

IIGS,
we remember thee.

Words that have travelled with generations of students and old students.

I.I.G.S., I.I.G.S.,
I will never forget thee
I.I.G.S., I.I.G.S.,
A fountain of knowledge

Your own impact in my upbringing
To make me better in later life
I.I.G.S., I.I.G.S.,
I will never forget thee.

Salute to our great founders,
Who established thee for our growth
May God give us heavenly wisdom
To do things aright
May God bless us abundantly,

I.I.G.S., I.I.G.S.,
I will ever uphold thee.

I will use all my energy
To join others in raising thy name
I.I.G.S., I.I.G.S.,
I will never forget thee.
